Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music for Visual Media Online
Program Description
The Music for Visual Media BFA is designed to teach students the language of music, and how to apply that language to visual media, including film, television, web, video games, and animation. Coursework will provide a strong foundation in music fundamentals, as well as tools to help you capture the right emotional tone with music to fit the visual image. Our approach is dedicated to practical, hands-on training in a collaborative framework, utilizing the latest computer-based production tools which provide a thorough training in all the latest technology applications of the music-for-picture industry.
Required Courses
The Bachelor of Fine Arts requires completion of 132 semester units. Students who already have a bachelor's degree can enroll in our streamlined Second Degree Program that is 66 units without requiring any Liberal Arts or Art electives.Visit the School of Music for Visual Media to see degree requirements.

Admissions Requirements for Bachelor of Fine Arts Programs
- Domestic Students: Proof of high school graduation (diploma or GED/CHSPE)
- International Students: English translated official high school transcript
Course Hardware Requirements
The Animation and Visual Effects Department has online classes that require software that is only available for either the Macintosh or PC. Please review the individual online class description page for specific software requirements. The individual online course description pages in the catalog will notify you of any hardware requirements. It is recommended that online students refer to these description pages prior to purchasing a new computer.
