The MFA curriculum in Illustration concentrates on visual communication and a proficiency in technical and conceptual abilities and trains candidates in the formulation of ideas, problem solving and artistic skills. The department's talented faculty cultivates creativity in drawing techniques and concepts, color theory and visual storytelling.
The Illustration program offers a balance of classical art skills with technical training in new media, allowing the candidate to develop a portfolio that demonstrates a high level of professional skill. Focus areas include editorial, promotional expression, feature film animation, the book format, the graphic novel, informational and children's book illustration. The candidate's Final Project is exhibited to the public and industry leaders upon the approval of the Review Committee.
