Online Degrees/Programs

You can now complete a degree online; full-time or part-time, whenever and wherever it is convenient to you. You can also complete an Online Award of Completion program for personal enrichment, with the option of taking Academy of Art University classes in person or via the web. The following information will describe the degrees and programs that are available. Information on additional individual online classes, admissions requirements, application procedures, tuition, financial aid, and advising can also be found on this web site. WASC Accreditation

The Academy of Art University is proud to announce that it has been granted regional accreditation by the Senior Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of the six regional associations that accredit public and private colleges and schools in the United States.

Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation will aid the Academy of Art University in developing and sustaining its world-class education, and will continue to assure the educational community, the general public, and other organizations that the Academy of Art University is committed to achieving the highest standards of educational quality and effectiveness. Accreditation for Online Programs

The Online degree programs at the Academy of Art University are accredited. All online Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Master of Fine Arts (excluding Architecture) programs are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The BFA in Interior Architecture and Design program delivered online is not currently accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (formerly FIDER). However, WASC has approved the online BFA program in Interior Architecture and Design at the Academy of Art University, which offers the same curriculum as the FIDER-approved, on-campus program.

In October of 2006, the online degree programs earned full recognition and accreditation from the very prestigious art and design accrediting body NASAD-- the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. While NASAD has accredited our on-site program for years, this was a major step forward for our online programs.

** Some online classes may require software that is only available for a Macintosh or PC computer. If you see either icon below in the required software section on a class description page, you must have access to a Macintosh or PC computer.

** While the majority of classes in any online degree we offer can be completed on either a Macintosh or PC computer, the individual online degree description pages on this web site will notify you if that particular degree offers any classes requiring software that is only available on either a Macintosh or PC computer. The above icons will also be shown on the online degree pages that offer such classes. It is recommended that online students refer to these description pages for the degree that they are pursuing prior to purchasing a new computer.
