Creating music for film, television, video games, or any other visual medium involves a unique combination of musical expertise and aesthetic sensibility. The Academy of Art University's Music for Visual Media program offers training in traditional music as well as instruction in 21st century production technologies. With courses in harmony, arranging, orchestration, scoring, music production techniques, and music editing, students explore the symbiotic relationship between music and narrative, learn the language of music, and learn how to apply it to the expanding world of visual media. Students will graduate with a demo reel to take to potential employers.
The online School of Music for Visual Media currently offers Master of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts, and Associate of Arts degree programs. Online students have the advantage of self-paced learning, flexible schedules, fewer class fees, and clear presentation of materials with the opportunity to review and master each concept before continuing to the next.
