Architecture

The School of Architecture's online classes have been designed to teach the process of designing and making visual and physical changes to our built environment to enhance its quality and our experience of it. The classes also prepare students to contribute to the practice of architecture and urban design.

The Architecture program offers two fully-accredited degrees taught by experienced professionals. Additionally, the students have the opportunity to learn from architects, artists, engineers, and material specialists through our online class videos. The online architecture program balances intellectual, artistic, and technical abilities necessary for professional practice.

Students are encouraged to engage both theory and practice, achieving a balance between conceptual thinking and practical problem solving. A holistic understanding of basic design principles, history, theory, and technology is emphasized under the direction of a faculty of professional experts.

Design studio critiques are critical to the success of any architecture student. We keep this tradition by offering all studio courses with the option of a Virtual Office to provide you with a source of real-time feedback. You can choose to communicate with your instructor through text-based chat, with phone-based voice communication, or via Webcam for video support.

Master of Architecture (M. Arch)

As an architecture graduate school, our School of Architecture is one of the top architecture schools in the country. The graduate school program (M.Arch) has been designed to prepare and empower the graduate through education, and the process of designing and making visual and physical changes to our built environment that enhance its quality and our experience of it. The architecture degree programs encourage students to contribute to the practice of architecture and urban design.

Each graduate student completes a Final Project during the Directed Study component of the architecture degree program. The completed Final Project will then be critically appraised by a formal committee of faculty and professionals at the graduate student's Final Review.

Required Courses

The graduate school offers a 63-unit M. Arch program (Track I) for qualified applicants holding an undergraduate architecture degree and an 87-unit M.
