Multimedia Communications

The Academy of Art University's School of Multimedia Communications offers emphases in either short-form production or media specialty. Here you will learn the newest techniques and technologies in communications from award-winning professionals in broadcast and online media. In this program, students will write, shoot, edit, and appear in broadcast-quality productions, applying the standards and professionalism of broadcasting to Web 2.0 delivery from YouTube to your own video site. You will create news reports and podcasts, webisodes and mobisodes, blogs and commercials.

Our students develop a professional reel and receive the well-rounded set of media skills required for jobs in the industry today. Our classes are taught by working professionals at the nation's top art school for visual communications. A principal goal of the department is to help you specialize in a career. You will learn skills unique to sportscasting, fashion journalism, investigative reporting, or interactive and multimedia development as wel as how to cover everything from entertainment, to food, to finance.

Master of Arts (MA)

Students in the Master of Arts program in Multimedia Communications master production, presentation, conceptual thinking, and communication skills needed for a successful career. For their MA thesis project, students will produce an in-depth feature-length investigation (or a series of investigations) that meets industry standards within a specific media specialty.

Bachelor of Arts (BA)

Students in the Bachelor of Arts program in Multimedia Communications develop expertise in the production, presentation, conceptual thinking, and communication skills needed for a successful career.
